UMD started classes last Tuesday (9/6) and we had our first work-out on 
Wednesday (9/7).
This fall's Olympics began on Wednesday with the Sit/Reach, 40yd Dash, 
and a test of Vertical Jump. We've also completed the Bench Press, Leg 
Press, Sit-ups, and the 3 Mile run. So far 3 records have been set. 
Ryan Breidenbach ran 18:38 in the 3 Mile to break a record that had 
stood since 2001. Matt Hockett broke his own sit-up record completing 
98 sit-ups in 2 minutes. Matt also set the Leg Press record by lifting 
2.5 times his body weight 30 times. We still have 9 events in the 
Olympics remaining over the next 4 weeks. They are: Push-ups, 12 Minute 
Run, 100 Meter Swim, Dips, 1 Mile Run, Chin-ups, the Bulldog Run (a 950 
yard shuttle run), and an Anaerobic Test.
Practice begins Saturday October 15th. We open at Romano Gym on 
November 2nd vs. Athletes in Action and play a second exhibition game 
November 10th vs. the University of Minnesota at Williams Arena.

Newcomers are:
Mark Bauch 7' 240 lbs, Junior. Mark is a transfer from Mpls. Comm. and 
Tech College. He is from St Paul Como Park HS and never played high 
school                 basketball, but he's 7' tall.
Steve Jamnick 6'10" 280 lbs. Freshman. Steve is from Tower-Soudan High 
School. The plan is to red-shirt Steve.
Ryan Meissner 6'6" 185 lbs. Junior. Ryan is also a transfer from  Mpls. 
Comm. &  Tech College. Ryan was a high school teammate of Bryan Foss at 
Osseo High School where he played in 2 MN High School State 
Tournaments. The plan is to red-shirt Ryan.
Jordan "Spud" Schade 5'8" 160 lbs. from Oshkosh North High School. Spud 
is the son of legendary coach and player Frank Schade. Former Bulldog 
Ben Raymond played for Spud's father Frank at Oshkosh North. Spud will 
red-shirt.
Jordan Nuness 6'3" 205 lbs from Eden Prairie, MN. Jordan is a transfer 
from the U of Minnesota where he red-shirted 2 years ago and played 
sparingly last season. He'll have 3 years of eligibility at UMD.
uJared Sodahl 6'7" 185 lbs from Duluth East High School. Jared will be 
a red-shirt this year. He is a wonderful athlete who needs to just 
mature and get stronger.

If you are in Duluth on this Saturday (9/17) we're having our 4th 
Annual RibFest at Bayfront Park. It's a wonderful event with great food 
and great music.

I plan on sending another newsletter as we get closer to October 15th 
with any new updates about our team.

If you are ever in Duluth plan on stopping by and say hi. During the 
season our regular practice time is 12-2pm. You are always welcome to 
stop by practice and observe.
