Dear UMD Basketball Alum-
We have reached the half way point of the NCC season and have 6 games
remaining. The first half hasn't been kind to us, or more accurately I
should say we haven't been kind to ourselves. Our record is 1-5 and
puts us in last place. We've lost to MSU-Mankato twice, the second of
which at home was a very good effort and a good basketball game that
could've gone either way. We've lost to St. Cloud St. twice. We lost at
the U of South Dakota in a very good game where they took the lead with
only 1 minute to go and beat us by 2. We led by 6 with 5:28 to go but
could only manage one 3 point basket the rest of the way. We did beat
Augustana at home by 20 and played very well. We had an 8 point
half-time lead and quickly extended it to close to 20 in the first few
minutes of the second half and played some very good basketball.
The good news is we leave tomorrow for Sioux Falls to play Augustana
again to begin the last 6 games of the season. Augustana is 2-4. It's a
game we need to win to spark us. We then return home and play USD on
Saturday at 3:00 pm.
Saturday is our Alumni Celebration. We are having an Alunmi Game at
10:30 am, halft-time recognition of the All 75th Year Team that you
voted for, and a post-game social at Blackwoods Bar & Grill.
The media release was sent today concerning the names of the 15 members
of the All-75th Year Team. I've attached it below as well as attached
it to this email. If you are unable to read it for some reason let me
know and I'll send it to you. A special thanks to JOSTENS for providing
each of the 15 players with a memento of the honor.
Anyone who is planning on coming Saturday and hasn't RSVP'ed to me
please let me know ASAP. I will leave tickets for you at the ticket
window. We also have some openings for the 10:30 am. The more the
merrier.
I look forward to hearing from you.
