Bulldog Basketball Alumni and Friends:
Just a quick note-it has been a very busy week preparing for two road
games at Minnesota State University Mankato and Augustana College. We
will practice at 3:00 today and leave for Mankato at 5:00 after
watching video cuts of MSUM. We'll stay out on the road after
Thursday's game at MSUM, travel to Sioux Falls, and play at Augustana
College on Saturday night.
Our sole game last week at the University of South Dakota, ended up in
the loss column, but we played well. We controlled tempo for 36
minutes of the game, lead at halftime 30 to 29 turning it into our type
of tempo, stayed even on rebounds, only turned it over nine times, 21
of our 25 baskets were assisted, but once again had a four minute
stretch at the 10 minute mark in the second half when we lost our lead
and were unable to recover. Brian Sykora (6-7, 210 lbs,
So-Bloomington, MN) had 27 points and 14 rebounds, his fifth
double-double of the season. Jordan Nuness (6-3, 210 lbs, Sr-Eden
Prairie, MN) had 21 points. Spud Schade (5-9, 175 lbs, So-Oshkosh, WI)
had 7 assists but went 0 for 9 from the floor. He still has not
recovered from the ankle injury, but is giving us hard-earned minutes.
His attitude and determination is relentless. As a team we played
hard, competed, and gave ourselves a chance to win, but did not get it
done. Two more tough challenges are ahead of us. We need to will
ourselves a win-we are competing.
On the recruiting front, we received a verbal commitment from an
excellent combo guard from Madison Lafollette High School. He is a
6-1, 185 lb scorer. that is averaging twenty points a game in a very
tough conference. There is an interesting article on him at this web
site:
