On Monday, August 24th, starting at 5:30 p.m., our phone system vendor 
will be replacing a critical component that has been causing sporadic 
problems (e.g. occasional long distance call dropped due to one-way 
communication).  The work to replace the part and follow up testing will 
take several hours to complete.  Most phones will continue to have dial 
tone.  240 of our 3500 phones will not.  You will be able to make long 
distance calls and on-campus calls, but inbound callers will receive a 
busy signal, and local outbound calls will be very limited.  The portion 
of the work requiring outages should be complete by 7:00 p.m.  Follow up 
testing and the potential for system reboots will continue until 10:00 
p.m..
