ITSS staff discovered today that a disk has failed on our email
storage device. It is now apparent that this disk may have been
failing slowly over the past week, explaining the slowness we have
been seeing. Until today it was not clear that this was happening.
Moreover, the redundancy built into the system did not work as expected.
We have a trouble ticket open with our vendor, and we hope to have a
solution soon. In the meantime, email will continue to be slow for
two-thirds of our customers, but there is light at the end of the
tunnel.
