[Studenttech.announce] Email Upgrade and Outage, Monday, May 3, 5-7:30 AM

ITSS staff have planned a major configuration change to the email  
system architecture on Monday morning, May 3.  Email will be  
unavailable to about one-third of our customers from 5 to 7:30 AM that  
day.  This work may not take the full 2.5 hours, so we hope email  
service will be available again before 7:30.

We are optimistic that the change we have planned will resolve the  
problems we have been seeing with email this semester.  Our email  
system is very complex, with many servers and data stores involved.   
We appreciate your understanding as we have sorted through options to  
address this problem.

We are still willing to take requests to move users to our newest  
server today, although we recommend waiting until Monday if you can.
