[Studenttech.announce] response to slow email server

All,

ITSS staff have analyzed the problems experienced by one of our email  
servers and have determined that the best strategy is to move to a  
faster server.  They began this process yesterday by checking settings  
on the new server and starting a syncing process to copy the mail from  
the old server to the new one. This syncing process is complicated by  
the fact that new mail keeps coming in and people continue to need to  
read their mail, at the same time the files are being transferred from  
one server to another.  As a result, we will not be able to cut  
service over to the new server until early Thursday morning, prior to  
the start of the work day.

I will send out another announcement tomorrow with a confirmed time  
for the cutover.  In the meantime, mail for those of you on this  
server will continue to be slow today and tomorrow.  We apologize for  
this and thank you for your patience as we resolve this issue.
